Hi my name is Jessica and I'm a dessert addict. Ok, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but I certainly have a sweet tooth and I love desserts, especially if it includes chocolate.
It was a sad, sad day when I finally admitted to myself that I couldn't eat dairy any longer. None. Not even a little. As far as I saw it, either I could give up desserts completely and sit around feeling sorry for myself while day dreaming about butter, ice cream, and dessert (sigh)... Or I could find ways to modify some of my favorite dessert recipes, and look for new ones too.
With a the help and encouragement from friends, I embarked on this culinary adventure more than three years ago. My first recipe came from a dear friend's mom, who is dairy-free too. The recipe for dairy-free Swedish cream was awesome! Actually, it was even better than the regular dairy-packed version. Hum, maybe this wasn't going to be all bad after all.
As a life-long baker and connoisseurs of sweets, I've taken this challenge quite seriously. Not every recipe I've tried has been a winner, but I try and try again! When friends and family taste my desserts, I want them to say disbelievingly, "This is dairy-free?"
In this blog I share with you some of my favorite dairy-free recipes; most are kosher, some are vegan. I hope you enjoy the desserts as much as we have. As my family and friends hear me say every time we get together, "Save room for dessert!"
